Excelsior 8g ointment, Salicílico ácido
Acne vulgaris (in form of gel, lotion, ointment or soap). Seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis. Topical adjuvant in the treatment of hyperkeratotic skin diseases.
Gel: as anti-acne and antipsoriatic once daily and queratolitic; it is also preferable to apply an occlusive dressing. Lotion: as antiseborrhoeic, scalp, 1 to 2 times daily. The ointment, soap, shampoo and topical solution is used as medically indicated. Since it is absorbed through the skin should not be applied over large areas of the body or for long periods, especially in children. Before you coat the affected area with the gel apply wet compresses it, in order to enhance their effect.
Skin irritation not present before treatment. Signs of salicylism: confusion, dizziness, severe or continuing headache, tachypnea or ringing in the ears.
Cautions and warnings.
Do not use on moles, birthmarks, warts unusual about growing hair or on warts on the face. Avoid concurrent use with other topical preparations antiacneicas or containing exfoliating. Caution is advised if drugs containing aspirin or salicylates are used. Its use is not recommended in patients with diabetes mellitus or circulatory failure as it can cause acute inflammation or ulceration.
Simultaneous use of preparations containing antiacneicas resorcinol, sulfur, tretinoin, astringent lotions, benzoyl peroxide, medicinal cosmetics or make may have a cumulative drying effect or produce irritating and excessive skin irritation. If a significant systemic absorption of topical salicylic acid occurs, the concurrent use of other salicylates may increase the risk of salicylism.
The risk-benefit ratio presence of diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular disease and inflammation or skin infection should be evaluated.
